Authentic Connections

Starting a business during the final stages of the pandemic has really been insightful for me. I did not realize how much I missed directly connecting with my family, friends and clients until we started to “see” each other in person again. This last 15 months has solidified for me the power of connection and the importance of relationships in maintaining physical and mental health.

2020 has shown me the importance of a clearly communicated strategy. Having clear direction and goals helped many of my clients manage the uncertainties of life while at the same time celebrating the steps they were taking to achieve their goals.

Having a clear personal vision gives me energy and purpose. It helps me take actions which are aligned with my inner guidance. My energy surges when I can be true to myself - I feel a similar surge when watching the Northern Lights. Just as adapting to atmosphere changes creates the energy of the amazing light show, I feel a surge of energy when I take aligned action in response to changes in my life.

As a member of senior leadership my role has been to make strategic decisions to move the business forward and communicate those decisions to employees. Keeping focus on the end game while at the same time determining shorter term steps to move forward is a balancing act all leaders need to make. Alignment of vision was what kept our business moving forward even when shifts happened that adjusted immediate goals. My role has been to help clarify direction and then work through employees to help them adapt to changes happening around them.

Life is a journey and the more we can make choices aligned with our values the more grounded and authentic we can be regardless of the roles we are asked to play. This is true about individuals as well as businesses.

Knowing who we are, where we have come from and what is important to us is the difference between our life energizing us - like energy I feel when I see the Aurora Borealis- or allowing our life to happen to us. Clear vision gives us meaning and focusses our energy towards our goals. It energizes our action and builds a sense of purpose.
